Setting Stone Coffee House Raises Money for Literary Arts Magazine

The Coffee House is an event where THS students show their talents to an audience in order to raise money for the Setting Stone Liberal Arts Magazine.

“The Setting Stone Magazine is mostly poetry, but it has short stories, photography, scanned artwork, pictures of sculptures, all of these things are created by students,” said Clare Squance, co-advisor of Setting Stone. “We picked that so students could perform something that kids wouldn’t usually have an audience for.”

At the Coffee House people can purchase coffee, baked goods made by students, issues of old Setting Stone Magazines, tee shirts and sweatshirts, with all the money raised going toward the production of the next Setting Stone Magazine.

For this Coffee House there are a total of fourteen act,s including Andy Hofmann, teacher Ben Mattox, Demi Allen, Olivia Watson, band DJV, among others.

“It’s smaller this time, and there’s only one band,” Squance said. “Usually there’s a large turn out, hopefully it’ll be the same.’”

The event’s taking place tonight at 7:30 p.m. in the THS cafeteria. Tickets are $3.00 in advance and $5.00 at the door.
