Famous Holiday Recipes

Every family has different holiday traditions, and with those traditions come different kinds of recipes.

Chocolate Crinkles

Every Christmas, my grandma has a huge holiday party with all of my family members.  Since there’s so many of us, my grandma has to make a lot of treats to keep the young ones happy.  This recipe is has been in my family for a long time, and over the years it has become one of our favorites.

The ingredients you need are:
-3 beaten eggs
-1 ½ cups sugar
-4 squares (4 ounces) unsweetened chocolate, melted
-½ cup cooking oil
-2 teaspoons baking powder
-2 teaspoons vanilla
-2 cups all-purpose flour sifted powdered sugar
And set the oven at 375 degrees.

-In a bowl, combine eggs, sugar, melted chocolate, cooking oil, baking powder, and vanilla.  Add flour to chocolate mixture, stirring thoroughly combined.  Cover and chill for 1 to 2 hours or till easy to handle.
-Shape dough into 1-inch balls.  Roll balls in powdered sugar.  Place 1 inch apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
-Bake in 375 degrees oven for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are set and tops are cracked.

Colorful Candy Bar Cookies Recipe


This recipe is a new favorite of my family’s.  It’s a basic sugar cookie with a sweet surprise on the inside.  My younger brothers love this recipe because it’s a colorful cookie, with a Snickers Bar on the inside.

 

 

The ingredients you need are:
-1/2 tube refrigerated sugar cookie dough, softened
-1/4 cup all-purpose flour
-24 miniature Snickers candy bars
-Red and green colored sugar
And set the oven to 350 degrees.

-In a small bowl, beat cookie dough and flour until combined. Shape 1-1/2 teaspoonfuls of dough around each candy bar. Roll in colored sugar.
-Place 2 inches apart on parchment paper-lined baking sheets.
-Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes or until edges are golden brown.

Peanut Butter Blossoms

Everyone in my family love these cookies.  From the youngest children to the oldest grandparents, it’s everybody’s favorite.  It’s a peanut butter cookie with a Hershey Kiss planted right in the middle of it.  The shape of the cookies is fun and the way you eat it is fun too.  Just be sure to not drop your Hershey’s Kiss!

The ingredients you will need are:
-1 pouch Betty Crocker peanut butter cookie mix
-3 tablespoons vegetable oil
-1 tablespoon water
-1 egg
-2 tablespoons sugar
-36 Hershey’s Kisses milk chocolates unwrapped
Set oven at 375 degrees

-In a mixing bowl, stir cookie mix, oil, water, and egg until dough forms
-Shape dough into 36 (1-inch) balls, roll in sugar.  Place balls 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
-Bake 8-10 minutes or until light golden brown and immediately press 1 Hershey Kiss into the center of each cookie.
-Remove from cookie sheet and let cool for about 20 minutes.
