Oxford, OH–Talawanda High School and the City of Oxford hosted this year’s Homecoming Parade, commemorating the beginning of the year for our school and community’s many teams, clubs, and organizations, most notably the THS Football team and THS Marching Band. This parade starts at Kramer Elementary school, making its way through uptown and the edge of Miami University’s campus, sporting spirited music and flashy displays.

Talawanda High School’s Homecoming Court rode through the parade with cars and decorated signs, representing the student body as elected officials of the Homecoming festivities. Homecoming King and Queen, Adam Kolb and Addison Bowling, were crowned on the THS football field before the Homecoming Football game against the Dayton Carroll Patriots on September 20.

The Talawanda Homecoming Parade is an annual event which attracts a large crowd of both student and adult residents of the town, as well as college students who are studying in the area. It’s such a big event that a couple of Oxford’s main uptown streets are shut down to make way for the parade, with people lining up with chairs and food along the sidewalk.

The City of Oxford generously sponsors this event, providing toys, games, and fun music for the public, as well as police to make sure everything moves smoothly and everyone is safe. This investment is a great way to show the strong support that the City of Oxford has for students and our community.

While this event lasts for no more than 45 minutes and is only a small portion of the celebrations which occur during this time of year, it is nonetheless a fine example of a tradition which brings many different people of a community together year after year.
