Late to the Party: Red Dead Redemption
Late to The Party: Red Dead Redemption

In 2010, Rockstar Games released their second-ever video game in the Western genre. A spiritual successor from Red Dead Revolver, Red Dead Redemption was released to critical acclaim, winning Game of The Year at The Game Awards. Red Dead Redemption was developed by Rockstar Games and Rockstar San Diego (the same companies that created the critically acclaimed Grand Theft Auto, Max Payne, and L.A. Noire).
Taking place after the Red Dead Redemption II, Red Dead Redemption is truly a tale of redemption. It follows John Marston, a former outlaw turned honest rancher. Everything changes when the government kidnaps John’s family. In order to get his family back, John must find the surviving members of his old gang: Javier Escuala, a hitman who works for Mexican dictator Colonel Allende; Bill Williamson, the new boss of his own gang; Dutch Vanderlinde, former leader of the Vanderlinde gang and John’s father figure. John must bring all three men to justice, or he will never see his family again.
You definitely should play Red Dead Redemption II before you play the original, because it perfectly wraps up the story of the Vanderlinde Gang. Plus they have an addition that will make you feel… UNDEAD!!!! If you are looking for a perfect completion of a fantastic story and a proper sendoff for amazing characters, or if you just want a lowkey western adventure that doesn’t take 40 hours to beat, Red Dead Redemption is for you.
I give Red Dead Redemption a 9/10! It has a great story, great writing, and great graphics (for the time), but sub-par voice acting.
