Freaky Friday This Thursday
Many of us are familiar with the popular movie Freaky Friday, in which a teen girl and her mom, who don’t get along that well, switch bodies. But what you may not know is that a brand-new interpretation of this movie will hit Talawanda stage in musical form. The drama department had been working hard on the spring musical, Freaky Friday, in which “They mom and a daughter swap bodies – it’s a day before the mom’s wedding, and there are both clashing. It a growth moment for both of them,” Hiley Kresse, cast member, said.
Freaky Friday’s music and lyrics were written by Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey with the book by Bridget Carpenter and is based on the 1972 novel by Mary Rodgers and two film versions of the story. Talawanda’s production is directed by Cate Hudson.
The musical opens on Thursday, April 4th, at 7:00 pm. If you can’t make that showing, it will also be showing on April 5th at 7:00, or April 6th at 1:00 pm or 7:00 pm. You can buy tickets in advance at lunch in the cafeteria or from a cast member for $7 before opening night, or $8 at the door.
