Heisman Trophy Candidates
College football shows insane talent. With football being mid-season, you never know what could happen. All stats will change for the better or for the worse, as will the Heisman trophy candidates.
Louisiana State University sophomore running back, Leonard Fournette, is ranked number one in the running. Fournette has rushed for 864 yards with 11 touchdowns, ranking number 1 in all running backs. Texas Christian University Quarterback, Trevone Boykin is ranked number three and is the only QB in the top 5.
The junior running back at Ohio State, Ezekiel Elliott is the biggest surprise. Elliott is ranked five. With all the help he has brought Ohio State, you would think he would be ranked one or two. Fournette is definitely a strong running back, but Elliott has saved Ohio State in games, such as Saturday, October 3rd when they played Indiana as he ended the second half with 3 touchdowns to win it.
Comparing all the stats between the players, there is no doubt they all are unique. But, the Heisman winner shouldn’t be just be chosen based on stats. Players need to be chosen by the effect they had on big games. Zach Rothert, Hamilton High School student, said “Elliott has come in the most clutch in all of college football.” Rothert believe’s that Elliott is unstoppable.
Talawanda student, Brent Myers, also said “if Elliott keeps playing like he is, then the Heisman is his.” Arguing against that, Fournette is in the lead with 35 points, but you never know what could happen. Players get injured and get in trouble. It all comes down to their stats and their clutch situations.
