Local Real Estate Agent New Girls Soccer Coach
Missy Friede, four year division one coach, is now coaching the Talawanda Lady Braves varsity soccer team. Friede said she loves coaching and getting to know the girls. Learning their personalities, expectations, strengths, weaknesses and their game mentality is part of the job she says.
There are many challenges in “communicating efficiently with players and families, school and league,” Friede said Even if it can be hard, Friede said just wants the girls to give 110 percent and possess the ball. That is what she tells her girls before every game: possess and pass.
Friede’s coaching philosophy is “a new plan of basic, possession soccer.” Friede included that the teams have to give it their all these ten weeks together.
Off the field, Friede turns off her phone to spend more time with her family. With two kids and a job, it’s not easy to balance everything. Her husband was willing to modify his schedule so she could pursue this position and they also hired a babysitter. Since her job is full time, Friede has to make sure she can meet with all of her clients. She said that she has help from a colleague and sales slow down in the Fall so she can manage easier. Friede said that she wants her family to know she is theirs when they’re together.
Overall, she said she enjoys keeping her team focused on the present as they work together to be a better team. “Sometimes it’s easiest to focus on the day at hand and glimpse at tomorrow. You have to live in the moment or you’ll miss a lot of the important little experiences,” she said.
