Alabama Shakes in Indianapolis
Alabama Shakes performed at the Farm Bureau Lawn at White River State Park in Indianapolis Tuesday evening with opener Father John Misty as part of the WTTS (92.3 FM) “Rock on the River” series.
The venue is a perfect setting for summer concerts, featuring the Indianapolis cityscape in as a backdrop and the natural beauty of the White River State park as its surroundings, making a unique atmosphere for the band’s tunes.
The Shakes took the stage around 8:30 and put on an energized, soulful performance, featuring music from their newest album (Sound and Color) mixed in with tracks from their first record, Boys and Girls.
The highlight of the evening was, of course, singer Brittany Howard, who carried the band through the evening with her incredible stage presence. Standing out in front of the rest of the band, Howard commands the audience’s attention at all times simply by losing herself in each song, making the audience feel every note she sings and plays. If the rest of the band is the backbone, Howard is the soul.
Alabama Shakes continues their tour tomorrow in Detroit, Michigan. Check out a full list of tour dates here.
