Switch From Coke to Pepsi Products Receives Mixed Reviews
Talawanda High School has recently made a switch from Coke to Pepsi products.
The contents of the vending machines, as well as the drinks available at lunch, have raised both positive and negative opinions among THS students and staff.
Math teacher Greg Cawein said that he was disappointed with the switch from Coke to Pepsi products. ”I used to use the vending machine every day,” he said. “I don’t anymore.”
Cawein said that he was also confused with the fact that no one checked with the consumers before the Coke products disappeared. “The decision was made only based on money, without anyone checking with us,” he said.
Junior Amy Antonius said she was disappointed by the decision of only having Gatorade G2, instead of standard Gatorade products. “The G2 has artificial sugar, which I don’t like,” she said.
Not everyone was disappointed with the switch, however. Secretary Lynn Stivers said she is very pleased.. ”I used to bring in my own Pepsi, now I don’t have to,” she said. Although she is happy with the switch, she also pointed out that it would have been nice if someone had informed the staff before the old vending machines were carried out.
Cafeteria worker Cathy Ezsol said the switch has not affected the sale of different soft drinks and water at lunch. ”The Sobe-water has been a bestseller,” she said. “But the Gatorade products have not been as big of a seller as the Powerade.”
Whether Talawanda students and staff like it or not, the switch from Coke to Pepsi is here for the foreseeable future.
