“The Great American Trailer Park Musical” Comes to Oxford
Oxford Area Community Theater is putting on the musical “The Great American Trailer Park Musical”, and one of their leading roles is THS biology teacher Ben Mattox.
Directed by Rebecca Howard, the production follows the relationships between residents at the Armadillo Acres Trailer Park in Florida, particularly between a stripper named Pipi, an agoraphobic woman named Jeannie, and her husband of 30 years, Norbert.
Mattox plays Norbert in the musical, and has several singing parts. This is his seventh play so far, so he is used to the hard work. “Its a little intense,” said Mattox, “You get home from work and you are very tired, so you take a nap, get up, and go to rehearsal. Then by the time you get home you are all riled up and you can’t go to sleep. It’s been tiring, but I knew what I got myself into.”
Tickets are ten dollars, and they are going fast. There will be a show November 1st and 2nd at 7:00 p.m., and November 3rd, at 2:00 p.m.
