Ashley Curtner’s Opinion on Ugg Boots

Time to break out the ugg boots and big fluffy coats, it’s winter time.

Winter is great because of the fashionable wardrobe associated with this time of year.  It is the one season girls can express fashion the most. In the winter time, girls take advantage and bundle up with their warm cozy boots, and their cute scarves.

I always look forward to wearing my Ugg boots to school in the season because of how soft and furry the inside lining is. I started wearing Ugg boots in 8th grade when they were beginning to get more popular.

According to statistics, In 2009 Ugg boots stomped their way into the fashion lovers’ hearts. For over 5 years now, the Ugg boot demand has continued to grow. Uggs have managed to maintain their popularity because of the natural sheepskin, and the celebrity influence.

I have a very special spot in my heart for my Ugg boots because of the possibilities they hold. You can wear them to just keep your feet warm, and you can wear them with skinny jeans, leggings, yoga pants, the list is endless. They fit any style you may want to wear that day.

With Ugg boots’ blooming popularity, other companies have made similar products that do not hold up as well to the originals. Some of these brands make their product out of cheaper material, and less insulation. They are designed to look the same, but the difference is obvious.

One of my favorite parts about Ugg boots is the fact that they are made out of sheepskin. They are manufactured by an Australian Company. Many who have felt the texture of Ugg boots can tell that the quality is much better than those of bearpaws, or other off brands.

The outside of the Ugg boot has a very soft comfortable texture that is made out of fleece the outside of uggs is twin-faced sheepskin that has a suede-like exterior . With the sheepskin, the boot has excellent air circulation allowing the boot to be worn during any weather climate. This is to help regulate the body temperature making the boots appropriate to wear all year round.

A negative effect of wearing Ugg boots is how sensitive they are to water . Wearing them in the actual snow can damage the softness of the outer fleece and cause the texture to become hard and scratchy. When I purchased my Ugg boots, they came with protective spray covering.

The spray prevents water stains, and keeps the boots looking nice and soft. This helps them last longer and withstand many weather conditions. Sadly, the spray does help a little, but it does not prevent the residue 100%.

Even though the boot is designed to be worn during the winter, they are unable to withstand water. The snow can leave behind water stains and ruin the outer material. The surface of the boot will eventually be covered in left over water residue. They also have the tendency to be very slippery when the bottom soles become wet.This can become a safety hazard.

The main focus behind wearing Uggs is more based on the actual style, rather than weather conditions.The large options of different sizes, types and colors, allows fashion opportunities to fit into anyone’s sense of style.

Ugg boots will only go out of style depending on the how they are viewed in society,  If people continue to fit the boots into their everyday fashion, they will continue to sell. Like most fashion trends, they eventually die out and are replaced with the next best thing,
