The Women’s Soccer Teams Anticipate a Good Season
Talawanda High School’s women’s soccer teams had a great season last year. Varsity placed second in the league and had nine wins, three loses, and three ties. The Junior Varsity had ten wins, three loses, and one tie. Now they are hoping to keep that momentum going.
“I think our record will be better than last year.” said Kherrin Morgan, goalie for the varsity team. “We may have lost some very good varsity players, but we gained some great hard-working girls.” she said.
Varsity’s current record is one win, four loses, and one tie. While, JV’s record stands at four wins and one loss.
Steve Thompson has been the women’s soccer coach for thirty years. “We play hard, we’re always motivated, and scrappy.” he said. “We need to improve on our touches and finishing goals. I believe we can out hustle and out play any team we come up against as long as we put our mind to it.”
For the first time ever, on September 4th, JV beat harrison 1-0. Varsity lost to Harrison 3-1. Harrison was ranked number one in the league.
Their next home game is on the 15th, against Miamisburg High School. JV starts at 5 PM and Varsity starts at 7 PM.
