THS Field Day: May 29th
On May 29th, freshmen, sophomores, juniors and staff will be going to the new high school while seniors are at the zoo.
Students will be with their enrichment and will be rotating to several different events through out the day. This includes fine-art & team-building activities, tours/scavenger hunt, field/gym activities. Stephanie Aerni, who is helping organize the day, is hoping the students enjoy just being with the new building and help build up school spirit. “The tours will allow students to get acquainted with the new building.”
The idea of having a Field Day is to allow the students and stuff to become familiar with the new building and the surroundings. This will help everyone to get use to the feeling of being in a new place and to allow the transaction for next year go smoother. “I am hoping people will see how drastically different everything is over there. The new building is freaking awesome,” stated Aerni.
Students are suggested to wear a t-shirt, gym shorts and sneakers. This is to help with the outdoor activities presented all day. Due to summer quickly approaching, the weather outside will be warm. It is suggested students bring a water bottle to keep hydrated, and possible sunscreen for those who burn easily. Lunch is being provided to all students free of charge.
Students who usually walk will be provided a shuttle bus to the new THS, whereas students who drive will be allowed to park in the lot to the left of the main driveway. Students who normally ride the bus will be dropped off at the new THS. Those who live in Indian Trace, South point apartments, Miami Western, McGee, Spartan and the houses on US 27 will be able to walk to the new THS.
Starting at 7:45 there will be a welcoming in the gym that will follow the start of the activities. Field Day activities will go until 2:20, allowing for an early dismissal.
