Earthquake in Italy
On Sunday, May 21, Northern Italy was struck with a magnitude 6.o earthquake, leaving many people to live in the streets.
The quake killed seven and injured around 50 people, however it also caused “significant damage to the cultural heritage” of Emilia Romagna region, the government said. Around 3,000 people were evacuated in fears of more tremors.
Later the same day, a magnitude 5.1 aftershock hit, which caused more panic and buildings collapsing.
The event caused a lot of damage, destroying clock towers, historic homes, and classic pieces of art.
Italian Prime Minister declared a state of emergency and promised more help on Tuesday for victims of the quake. The Italian Red Cross was the first to respond to the devastation.
