Tribune Graduation Issue Printed
Due to financial issues, the Talawanda Tribune ceased printing in December of 2011. This resulted in the new Talawanda Tribune web page that allows the writers to easily publish news stories.
However, due to a generous donation from the Pestana family, the last graduation issue of 2012 will be in print. “I was speechless when Anderson came in with the donation from his parents. It was such a wonderful thing–they are true patrons of the arts and supporters of Talawanda,” stated Tribune advisor Matt Aerni.
On May 23rd, the graduation issue will be released and distributed during enrichment. This issue is different from previous issues in that it is only including feature stories. A feature is a newspaper article that is written to entertain and inform the reader. It does contain some elements of the short story and is written with a lead to get the reader’s attention. “I think it will be more informative than previous issues,” stated co-head editor Jack Gillispe .
The previous issues have consisted of short articles that are relevant to what is happening now or what will happen in the near future. Features can be more of a longer, in-depth story that reports on an entertaining point of view to attract readers.
“I hope people will enjoy this issue and feel like it looks professional. We put a lot of work into this issue,” stated co-head editor Morgan Murray.
The final issue of the Tribune will be released on Wednesday, May 23 during enrichment, and will be distributed at tables before graduation.
