LOL Bombs At the Box Office
Miley Cyrus and Demi Moore starring in a Loinsgate film! What could go wrong with the three way match-up? Apprently, a lot can.
Loinsgate released LOL very quietly into 105 theaters over the weekend. LOL averaged about $440 dollars per theater.
The 97 minute long film is about a girl named Lola, played by Cyrus, who is just trying to get through the peer pressures of high school, such as friends, romance, and annoying parents. When Lola’s mother, played by Moore, reads her daughter’s journal, she realizes how big the communication gap is from her time to modern times.
The “comedy” was based off of the French movie LOL (Laughing Out Loud). Due to the success of the french version, many different countries have decided to remake the film. Countries such as: Australia, Germany, UK, Sweden, Norway, Austria, Poland, Brazil, Spain, and Russia. Both films were written and directed by Lisa Azuelos.
One thing is for sure, in a world connected by Facebook, Youtube, and Twitter, every teenager just wants to get through high school, and this film comments on this day-to-day struggle.
