THS Swimmers Compete at Division I State Meet
Canton, OH—Talawanda High School Junior Abbie Curry earned 7th place in the Girls 50 yard freestyle with a time of 23.85, and junior Anna Gregg took 13th with a final time of 24.15 in the Division I Ohio High School Swimming and Diving Championships held in the C.T. Branin Natatorium on Feb. 22, 2025. Gregg took 11th with a time of 52.62 and Curry took 15th in the 100 free with a time of 53.95.
This year is the first that Talawanda Swim & Dive sent two girl’s relay teams to state with the team of Casey Offenburger, Madison Sparks, Anna Gregg, and Abbie Curry (shown in photo above courtesy of @Brave_SwimDive) beating their own 400 free relay record prior to states with a time of 3:40:07 at districts which is now the current school record. At states, the girls took 22nd in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:42:23 in prelims. In the 200 free relay they secured the 14th spot in the finals with a finals time of 1:39:78.
The team ranked 20th overall in Division I with Upper Arlington taking the top spot.
This season, Talawanda Swim & Dive Girls took home the SWOC Championship for the third year in a row and both the boys and girl’s teams took home their twelfth SWOC Championships in the last thirteen years.
THS Swim & Dive is coached by Stephen Pasquale, multiple SWOC Swimming Coach of the Year recipient. Pasquale said it was a historic season for the girls swim & dive team and he is proud of all they accomplished.
