Best Buddies Walk

By Muhammed Khan

Recently you may have participated in the Best Buddies Walk. People from over 40 classes walked around the school. It included games, food, and a raffle. You may be wondering what the whole thing was all about, so here is some background information about it.

Best Buddies is an international organization. It is dedicated to ending the isolation of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Their goal is to spread friendship and inclusion along with working to end the bullying of individuals with disabilities. The group creates one-to-one friendship matches between members with and without disabilities.

The Best Buddies Walk was a result of work done by Best Buddies and the National Honor Society. It was also contributed to by the athletic department, Mr. Zimmerman and digital productions, staff members, the special education department, and the Steel Band.

The purpose of the walk was “to participate in Best Buddies Ohio virtual friendship walk to raise money for Best Buddies chapters in Ohio and to spread friendship and inclusion at THS. We always want to remind students that everyone is welcome and included in the high school experience here at THS,” Mrs. Sammons, Best Buddies advisor, said.
