Talawanda Students Featured on “Democracy & Z” Podcast Episode “QuaranTeens”

Just what are Cincinnati-area students experiencing while in quarantine?  What does it feel like and mean to be a “QuaranTeen”?  Cincinnati Public Radio in partnership with Elementz produced a podcast episode exploring those very questions.  The episode “QuaranTeens” features the voices of youth from across the region including four talented Talawanda High School students.

THS freshman Eliot Berberich spearheaded Talawanda’s participation and also helped to produce the episode.  Berberich, along with  Peter Averbach, Alexis Birmingham, and Carly Goodman share their “Covid-19 Audio Diaries” that they produced for their THS journalism class while sheltering-in-place this spring.  Other highlights of the episode include Jiahao Guo, founder of Mason High School’s Coronavirus Relief Project, and poetry and audio diaries from students from Cincinnati’s School for Creative & Performing Arts, Clark Montessori, and Finneytown High School.

According to WVXU’s website:  “Democracy & Z is a student podcast, developed in collaboration with our friends at Elementz. The podcast features young people from communities across our listening area, sharing their unique Gen-Z perspective on issues like immigration, gun violence and the environment.”

Thank you to Julie Coppens from WVXU for giving Talawanda students the opportunity to participate in this project that documents the experiences of Cincinnati-area youth.
