Spring Sports Review

Softball

Coming off last season with an overall record of 5-18 the Talawanda Braves Softball team looks to improve this season. With more wins than last season the Braves look to continue to improve as the end of the season nears. As of May 9th they stand at 3-8 in the conference with a 6-16 overall record. Senior Lauren Baker leads the way for Talawanda with 6 home runs this season to go along with 29 RBI’s with a batting average of 0.446.

 

Baseball

The Talawanda Braves Baseball team as of May 9th stand at 7-18 overall while 4-8 in conference play. The Braves are looking to improve upon from last season where they went 9-18 overall and 4-8 in conference. A huge factor for the team is Senior Trevor Detherage. Trevor is in the top 5 of the SWOC for batting average, home runs, and RBI’s and is an all around player for the Braves.

 

Tennis

After finishing runner up for the SWOC conference title last year by finishing 5-0 in the conference and 17-2 overall, your Braves tennis team was on a mission to win the conference and did such Standing at 5-0 in conference play and 10-5 overall, the Braves sit in first place of the SWOC and win the conference.

 

Track

The Talawanda Boys and Girls team is having a record shattering season. First up is the girls, the standout freshman Kyra Koontz runs a 12.32 in the 100 meter dash and also has shattered the record for the 100 meter hurdles running a 15 flat. For the 1600, Lizzie Sawdai runs a 5:54.41 while she clocks in at 13:03.76 in the 3200 meter run. For the boys, the sophomore David Kraushar clocks in 4:52.42 for the 1600, while running a 10:59.42 in the 3200.  On May 11, 2017 the girls’ team took the SWOC title and Coach Paul Stiver was named SWOC Coach of the Year.

 

Lacrosse

Your Talawanda Braves Lacrosse team is coming off a 1-10 season only looking to improve. This season they are 4-9 with one game left versus Summit Country Day coming up on May 16th. This season they have defeated both Winton Woods and Wilmington twice. They sit now in 15th place out of the 17 teams in the OH 2 Reg-8 division.
