Students Sound Off on the Election

Tuesday, Nov. 8th, 2016. This is a day that many students, voting or not, are really looking forward to because we have off of school.  Oh, and it’s also Election Day. Some students have really strong opinions on who they think are better suited to run the country, while others think we’d be in a bad position either way, no matter who got elected.

The Republican Party nominee, Donald Trump, and the Democratic Party nominee, Hillary Clinton, are in a close race to see who can get the most supporters on their team.

We talked to senior and fellow Tribune reporter, A.H, who supports Trump and the more Republican approach. When we asked H, “Why do you, and possibly other people, support Trump,” he responded with, “I support Trump because he’s a smart businessman and I believe he’ll give Americans jobs.”

Freshman, L.C, supports Hillary Clinton and her Democratic position. We asked her, “Why do you support Hillary,” and she responded with, “The other candidate (Trump) is not qualified and I don’t agree with his ideals. Hillary is better than Trump and more qualified to run the country.”

Most students asked didn’t seem to support either candidate in particular.  We asked Junior C.W how she felt about the election and she said, “I can’t vote and I’m glad.” Lots of our seniors hopefully voted this year to see who they wanted become president. This year’s election was definitely very interesting with how much arguing there was between candidates and among their supporters, so hopefully our new President, whoever they are, will lead us right.
