Republican front runner Donald Trump continued the momentum of his campaign Tuesday, following a win in the Nevada Republican Caucuses.

Trump, the outsider candidate who is an avid real estate investor, gained 12 delegates during the night, while mopping up 45.7% of the popular vote in The Battle Born State. After last night, Trump leads the republicans with 72 delegates.

Another close battle for second place was another major storyline of the night, as Marco Rubio was able to defeat Ted Cruz for the second straight time, last night winning by a larger margin than South Carolina.

Rubio accepted 23.9% of the vote, compared to a Ted Cruz 21.4%.  Both Rubio and Cruz gained five delegates on the night. Cruz still leads the overall delegate count, however with 16, with Rubio possessing 15.

For Cruz, the last few states have been frightening for his campaign. Following his lone win in Iowa, the Texas senator has only had third place finishes in all states since then, which is a major scare to his campaign moving forward. Political analysts say Cruz must do well on Super Tuesday to stand a chance against Donald Trump to compete for the nomination.

Candidates Ben Carson and John Kasich filed into 4th and 5th place, respectively. The two long shot candidates did not earn any delegates, but Carson and Kasich are still in the race as part of the five remaining candidates in what was once a field of 17 republicans.

The next Republican debate will be Thursday night on CNN in Houston, Texas, a Super Tuesday state, where the four lower candidates will try to take on Donald Trump in the last TV showing before March 1st, the next time people will be visiting the polls.
