Swim Team Looking Forward To Good Season

The start to another swim season is underway, and head coach Stephen Pasquale said he expects great things.

“I am looking forward to another good season for the girls and boys swim team,” he said.

Pasquale said he has a few strong seniors on his swim team this year. One of which is Kyra Reisenfeld for the girls team.

IMG_8309Reisenfeld said she is hoping to have a good season. “I’m really looking forward to just having fun this year and spending time with friends as opposed to the extremely competitive atmosphere of a club team,” she said.

Similar to Reisenfeld, Jesus Caraballo is gearing up for the season also. “I am hoping to qualify at more meets, Districts, and States this year,” he said.

Caraballo’s enthusiasm for the season may be linked to the boys team dropping from Division 1 to Division 2. The Division switch has to do with how many boys are in the school. To qualify for Division 1, schools must have 400 or more boys.  If a school has 399 or less boys it will be in Division 2.

“I think this will allow us to get to higher levels,” Caraballo said of the division switch. Reisenfeld agreed, adding, “This will allow for a majority of our senior boys to qualify for state competition as opposed to a select few in the past.”

Practices so far have been going slow and easy according to Caraballo and Reisenfeld, as they share the same thoughts. “So far we just have been getting into shape,” said Caraballo.

A few practices have already passed, taking place at Miami University’s Rec Center every day from 6-8 pm. Practices will go on until the season starts, which begins December 14.
