Andrew Lynn, a 28 year old with a degree in business administration, is about to get dramatic.

Lynn stepped in and took the place of Ryan Steffen as THS drama director for the 2013-14 school year. Steffen, who directed 41 shows at Talawanda, said he felt it was time to step down.  “I needed to spend more times with my kids,”  he said.

Lynn said he is ready to take responsibilities over.  “Even though Steffen did a great job with directing, and the kids have a really great  bond with him, I feel like I can maybe live up to the exceptions that Steffen left behind,” he said.

Graduating from Shawnee State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration, Lynn said he always wanted to teach drama.

Lynn heard about Steffen’s job by helping out with the Wizard Of Oz last year by building sets, painting and working on costumes. Lynn said he heard about the drama position opening through word of mouth from people in the community.

Lynn said his goal for this year is “to assist individuals in discovering inner possibilities for themselves.” And, he said he is excited to work with the students this year. “I know the kids I will be working with this year will already know some things about drama, but I hope to teach them new things,” he said.

Lynn said he is looking forward for the Fall play, and said he hopes large crowds of people attend. Most of all, he said, he is looking forward to working with his students. “I’m excited to see what they accomplish,” he said.

The Fall play, Alice In Wonderland, opens Thursday, November 21st.
