Jason Grunkemeyer said he is excited to work in his first high school setting as an Athletic Director for Talawanda High School this year.

Grunkemeyer, from Cincinnati, went to Moeller High School where he played basketball.  He attended Miami University where he continued to play basketball. When he graduated from Miami in 2001 with a degree in Physical Education, he went on to coach basketball at St. Louis University for 6 years.

From there, he decided to return to Oxford and was the assistant coach at Miami for the men’s basketball team for 5 years. After a coaching change at the University, Grunkemeyer took the spot as Talawanda’s new Athletic Director. So far, he says he’s enjoying it.

“All the students and staff I’ve met so far have been really helpful and friendly,” he said.

As for his daily tasks as an Athletic Director, Grunkemeyer schedules all the games and events, gets referees, and anything relating to athletics.

“I wear a lot of hats.” He said. “A lot of different jobs go into doing what I do.”
