Adam “MCA” Yauch Dead at 47. Rap In Peace.

After a three year battle with cancer, founder of the Beastie Boys, Adam MCA Yauch, succumbed to salivary cancer on May 4th 2012 at the age of 47.

Not only was Yauch a prodigy in the Hip-hop genre, but he was also a film director, a bass guitarist, and, as a Buddhist, was a part of the Tibetan independence movement.

When Yauch was 22, the Beastie Boys released their first album, Licensed to Ill. Licensed to Ill sold over nine million copies and was the first hip hop LP to top the Billboard 200 chart. The group later released six more studio albums including, Paul’s Boutique and Check Your Head, Ill Communication, Hello Nasty, To the 5 Boroughs, The Mix-Up and The Hot Sauce Committee.

Yauch was an inspiration for many famous and aspiring  musicians and rappers. May he Rap In Peace, and may his voice live on for ages.
