National Championship Game

The Kentucky Wildcats came out on top in their National Championship game against the Kansas Jayhawks.  The final score was 67-59 in favor of the Wildcats.  The win captured the Wildcats eigth National Championship.

The Wildcats entered the game beating the Louisville Cardinals 69-61 which punched their ticket into the National Title game.  The Kansas Jayhawks defeated the Ohio State Buckeye in a nail biter with the final score 64-62.

Doron Lamb, Sophomore Guard for the Kentucky Wildcats led the team in scoring with a total of 22 points.  Lamb made a pair of three’s to put the Wildcats up 15 points with 10 minutes left in the game.  For the Jayhawks, Junior Forward Thomas Robinson lead the team in scoring and rebounding with 18 points and 17 rebounds.

The game may have looked like a blow out at the half, with the Wildcats up 41-27 but the Kansas team never felt out of the game cutting the lead to five with just over a 1:30 left in the game.  But, Kentucky was not to be denied their near perfect season and ended up making five freethrows to seal the game and the Title for the Schools eight Championship.

Anthony Davis the Freshman Center for the Wildcats didn’t have the offensive night he would have liked, but he played an outstading defense game ending the night with 16 rebounds and six blocks.  Davis, argueably the best player in college basketball and possible number one draft pick in the 2012 NBA draft was nothing but smiles after the final buzzer. “Well, it’s not me, it’s these guys behind me,” Davis said after shooting 1-for-10 on the night. “They led us this whole tournament. This whole game, I was struggling offensively, and I told my team, every time down, you all score the ball; I’m just gonna defend and rebound.”

The win puts Kentucky just behind UCLA for the team with the most National Championship titles.
