THS Track

This year’s THS Track team is hoping to gain an FAVC win with both boys and girls. The new theme this year is, “One team, giving up good for great, with attitiude and effort, from start to finish.”

Paul Stiver is the THS Track team’s head coach. He feels that the team will do great this year, with strong senior leaders, citing that Robby Alexander, Nathanael Robinson, Ben Whiteman and Nathan Mandrel have all been great leaders for the team. “They will stride to greatness.” stated Stiver.

Kayla Hawkins, Raven Thomas, and Caroline Schulte have been more quiet leaders who lead by example. “I believe the girls will lead us to a league championship for the first time since 1989.” Explained Stiver.

For the past 3 years, the boys track team has placed 2nd in the FAVC and 1st place last year. “We are hoping to add another first this year. The girls are very deep across many events.”

Jessica Tegge, Sarah Starrett, and Sophie Dilek, combined with Hawkins make a great distance team, while  Ali Yeager, Bristyl Webb and Michela Groom give the team a good core of sprinters.

Most recently, Olivia Callahan has set a new school record in pole vault. Callahan also runs hurdles, along with Kyra Reisenfeld and Hannah Wachenhelm

Stiver’s feels that his goal for the team is very reachable. “The boys and girls is to constantly strive in getting better and seeing how far that takes the team.” explained Stiver. The teams best qualities are fun to be around. The team is very respectful and eager to do what it takes to get better. The main strong points of both teams are the distance runners and hurdlers. The main weaknesses are both field events and the boy’s sprints.

Overall, THS Track team is a well respected, dedicated team that will continue getting better and  keep striding to success.
